Remember that last blog about how busy we get in the autumn? Whether it’s that cold snap that makes the sugar maples gorgeous (oops, wrong state), or the snap of the football to the quarterback, or the anticipated snaps from the Drag Queens that will no doubt be at Saturday’s Space Coast Pride Festival and Parade, we are in high gear around here. It’s Pride weekend in EGAD. The VIP reception is tonight (sorry, by invitation only) as well as the ticketed kick-off party at Squid Lips, and we are excited. Their banners are waving from the flag poles, and the civic center and band shell are gearing up as well for major excitement. The festival itself begins at noon Saturday on Highland Avenue, and the colorful, wildly fun parade begins at 4 pm (on the northern end of Highland). All details are on their website. EGAD welcomes all groups to celebrate in the arts district, and we are very happy to be hosting Space Coast Pride.
Monday, October 1, is the EGAD Main Street Annual Corporate Meeting. It is open to the public, but only members may vote on the ballot of new officers. That meeting will be at 5:30 pm-7 pm at the Harris Auditorium which is part of Foosaner Art Museum/FIT. Please feel free to join us, literally. You’re welcome anytime! Your business does not have to be sited in EGAD to benefit from membership either. This meeting is the beginning of our new year and we have plans next year to increase our programming for everyone’s enjoyment. We’ll be exploring artsy happenings, travel opportunities, fascinating speakers on topics of human interest (both fun and maybe educational, but fun), plus more and EGAD Rocks will return in 2016. Main Street runs on volunteers and we are funded by a grant from the city of Melbourne, businesses, and good people like you. If EGAD is already providing something meaningful in your life–and you want to co-create this awesome district into what it absolutely can become–then please consider joining. Feel free to call the office and talk to us about it.
Thanks to Hometown News, you will see EGAD in the entertainment section twice a month beginning October 2, which is First Friday! We’re calling it EEK-GAD and will feature live music from PINCH in the band shell. We’re making really fun plans for November and December’s First Friday. Stay tuned because you won’t want to miss this great fun for all ages that is free and open to the public.
The Farmer’s Market returns for sure on Fridays beginning October 9. On Saturday, October 10, Rehab Vintage Market is hosting their second Vintage Revival all day on Highland Avenue. Come early for the best pickins’. One week after that, October 17, is the second Rocky Water Brewfest. Tickets are available online now.
