Is there anybody who doesn’t like Fall? Those born and raised here can actually feel a difference in the air by the first of October. Others who came from “up north” are thinking “mmmm, not so much.” There is something about autumn in any part of the country that makes people excited and get busy with fall fundraisers, fall festivals, fall hay rides, and eat freshly picked apples or have donuts and cider out of a barn selling fresh cider, not to mention decorating our homes with wreaths that can stay up thru Thanksgiving. We’re all busy little beavers and it’s no different in Eau Gallie. We love our Fridays around here. On the third Friday (September 18) we welcome the Food Truck Bazaar out of Orlando. This September 26, EGAD hosts Space Coast Pride, a family celebration with a parade for the first time ever on Highland Avenue. All of these family friendly events are free and open to the public.
By October, we’ve gone full tilt crazy. First Friday (October 2) we kick off the month of Halloween with EEK-GAD and fill up the square with vendors, live music, beer, wine and food vendors. Two EGAD businesses both host their own major wingdings on Highland Avenue every year and we can’t wait for them! Rehab Vintage Market is bringing back Vintage Revival (October 10 from 9am-3pm) where the street fills with vintage, shabby, chipped, industrial and wonderful home furniture and accessories. The good stuff goes fast so come early. Intracoastal Brewing Company and the Eau Gallie Rotary bring us the Rocky Water Brewfest for the second year (October 17 from 1-5pm). Over 30 Florida breweries are participating. Tickets are going fast and available online.
The November 6 First Friday will be the most fun of all. We’re inviting all manly men who want to compete for the title of best in class for beard or moustache, plus other fun categories in development. Judgment will be swift and administered by our panel of “experts.” Bring the family out on December 4 for our annual winter celebration, but we’re kicking it up a notch this year.
Just remember to sit around and do nothing, too. It’s good for you.
