EGAD is celebrating the return of football at tonight’s First Friday. Wear your team colors and tailgate with us. Come out for food, craft beer, and wine from Intracoastal Brewing Company. Smokin’ Country will be rocking the band shell. Check back at 4 p.m. to see if the event will be cancelled because of weather. Other happenings tonight are:
- Art & Antiques Studio and Gallery presents “RECYCLED, Where Junk Becomes Art”
- Fifth Avenue Art Gallery presents “100% Pure Florida Juried Exhibition”
- Foosaner Art Museum, FIT Music by Chuck Van Riper 5:30 – 7:30 pm (Harris Auditorium)
High School and college football has just begun and Brevard’s own Florida Tech is hosting Newberry College at FIT’s new stadium at Palm Bay High School. You can purchase season tickets on the Florida Tech sports website. Next Thursday, the NFL will be opening its regular season with a face-off between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots. Both teams have a broad and passionate fan base so it should be a good one. Uh, go Steelers!
The Daily City Food Trucks Bazaar will be back on the southern end of Highland Avenue on Friday, September 18, at 5:30 p.m. so bring the gang and your own chairs and make a night of it. The following week, Space Coast Pride will be throwing their big annual family festival and, for the first time ever, a parade will take place on September 26 at 4 p.m. on Highland Avenue. Pride parades are on par with Mardi Gras so expect some very shiny happy people along the Parade route. Bring your own chair and enjoy the festivities. More information can be found on their website. They will kick off their event on Friday night at Squid Lips Overwater Grill.
Outside of football, the Foosaner Art Museum has a great event on September 12 (7-9 p.m.) called “Brain Food”: An Evening of TED Talks, Tech-tinis and Giga-bites. Tickets are $20 for members. All are welcome. Details may be found on their website.
It’s 5 o’clock and autumn somewhere.
